Bedroom Furniture in BC - What We Carry

Muse & Merchant is a British Columbia furniture store with showrooms in Coquitlam, Langley, Victoria, Nanaimo, and Kelowna. Our bedroom collection covers everything you need to complete the room: beds in Queen and King sizes, dressers and nightstands in Acacia and Mango Wood, and mattresses from premium brands including Aireloom, Marshall, and Spring Air. All pieces are available to see in person at our BC showrooms.

Beds - Platform, Storage & Lifting Mechanism Options

Our bed collection spans Queen and King sizes and includes three distinct frame types to match your storage needs and bedroom layout:

• Platform beds (no box spring required) - clean, low-profile silhouette; pairs with any mattress type.
• Beds with built-in slat systems - provide firm, even support for your mattress without additional hardware.
• Lifting mechanism beds - gas-lift frame opens to reveal full under-bed storage; ideal for BC homes where closet space is limited.

Frame materials include fabric upholstered headboards and acacia wood with natural grain finishes. Whether you're furnishing a master suite or a spare room in one of our five BC cities, our team can help you compare options in-store.

How to Choose Between a Queen and King Bed

A Queen bed (65" × 87") fits most BC bedrooms comfortably, leaving adequate clearance on both sides. A King bed (81" × 87") requires a minimum room width of approximately 12 feet to allow 24 inches of walking space on each side. For rooms under 10 feet wide, a Queen with a lifting mechanism bed gives you the extra storage a King would otherwise provide through sheer floor space. Visit any of our showrooms in Coquitlam, Langley, Victoria, Nanaimo, or Kelowna to see both sizes on the floor.

Dressers & Nightstands - Acacia Wood and Mango Wood

Our dresser and nightstand collection is built from two primary hardwoods: Acacia and Mango Wood. Both are sustainably harvested and known for their distinctive grain patterns and durability in BC's variable climate.

• 6-Drawer Double Dressers - full-width storage for two, fits standard bedroom wall lengths.
• 7-Drawer Double Dressers - additional central drawer for accessories; ideal for primary bedrooms.
• Nightstands - matching Acacia or Mango Wood options to coordinate with our bed frames.

Acacia Wood vs Mango Wood - Which is Right for You?

Acacia Wood features a tighter grain and warm golden-brown tones. It is extremely hard (Janka rating ~1750 lbf), making it resistant to dents and scratches - a practical choice for busy households. Mango Wood has wider, more varied grain patterns with brown streaks that make each piece visually unique. It is slightly softer than Acacia but still highly durable, and its natural figure pairs well with both modern and rustic interiors. Both finishes are available to view in our BC showrooms.

Mattresses - Aireloom, Marshall & Spring Air

We carry mattresses in Queen and King sizes from three established brands: Aireloom, Marshall, and Spring Air. Each brand takes a different approach to comfort and support.

• Aireloom - handcrafted in California; known for its hand-tufted covers and individually wrapped coil systems that minimize motion transfer. A premium choice for couples with different sleep preferences.
• Marshall - uses Marshall coil (pocket spring) construction; springs move independently to contour to body shape and reduce partner disturbance.
• Spring Air - offers a broad range from firm to plush; good entry-level to mid-range option with strong back support profiles.

All mattresses can be tested at our showrooms. Because we sell exclusively within British Columbia, our team delivers and sets up your mattress directly.

How to Choose the Right Mattress for Your Bed Frame

Platform beds and beds with built-in slat systems work with any mattress type, including memory foam, latex, and innerspring. If you choose a lifting mechanism bed, confirm the mattress thickness (profile) before purchase - most mechanisms work best with mattresses between 10" and 14" tall. Our in-store staff across all BC locations can match your chosen bed frame to the right mattress depth.

Complete Bedroom Furniture Sets

Furnishing the whole room at once? A coordinated bedroom set - bed frame + dresser + nightstands - ensures all pieces share the same wood species, finish, and proportion. This is the most reliable way to achieve a cohesive look without colour-matching across separate purchases. Our Acacia and Mango Wood collections offer matching pieces throughout, so you can build a complete set in-store across any of our five BC locations.

Tips for Buying Bedroom Furniture in BC

Here are three things to confirm before buying:

1. Measure your bedroom doorways - especially for dressers. A 7-drawer double dresser typically requires a 32" doorway minimum.
2. Confirm ceiling height for beds with headboards taller than 55".
3. Choose wood species first - then build the rest of the set around it. Mixing Acacia and Mango Wood is possible but the tones differ; see both in-store before deciding.

Bedroom Furniture FAQ

Does Muse & Merchant ship bedroom furniture outside BC?

No. Muse & Merchant sells and delivers bedroom furniture exclusively within British Columbia. We have physical showrooms in Coquitlam, Langley, Victoria, Nanaimo, and Kelowna where you can see and try all pieces before purchasing.

What bedroom furniture brands does Muse & Merchant carry?

For mattresses, we carry Aireloom, Marshall, and Spring Air in Queen and King sizes. Bed frames and dressers are sourced from manufacturers using Acacia Wood and Mango Wood construction. All pieces are available to view at our BC showrooms.

Do your beds require a box spring?

No. All beds in our collection use either a built-in slat system or a platform base, so no box spring is needed. Our lifting mechanism beds also include a built-in base - the gas-lift frame acts as the foundation.

What is a lifting mechanism bed?

A lifting mechanism bed (also called a gas-lift bed) has a hinged mattress base supported by gas pistons. When you lift the mattress, the entire base opens upward to reveal a large under-bed storage compartment - typically enough for bedding, seasonal items, or luggage. It is the most efficient storage solution available in a bed frame.

Where can I see bedroom furniture in person in BC?
