Canadian-Made Custom Furniture by Stylus - What We Offer
Muse & Merchant's custom order collection is exclusively handcrafted by Stylus, a Canadian furniture manufacturer based in Burnaby, British Columbia. Every piece - sectional, sofa, or accent chair - is made to order in Stylus's BC factory using traditional upholstery techniques. Ordering is done entirely in-store at any of our five BC showrooms: Coquitlam, Langley, Victoria, Nanaimo, and Kelowna. We do not sell or ship outside British Columbia.
The collection offers over 20 frame styles and up to 150 fabrics - giving you complete control over how your piece looks, feels, and fits your space. Lead times vary by style and current production schedule; our in-store team will confirm the timeline when you order.
Custom Sofas - Made to Order in BC
Our made-to-order sofas are built by Stylus in Burnaby using individually hand-tied coil systems and hardwood frames - construction methods that define the difference between production furniture and genuinely long-lasting upholstered pieces. When you order a custom sofa at Muse & Merchant, you choose the frame style, leg finish, fabric or performance fabric, and cushion fill. The result is a sofa built specifically for your home, your dimensions, and your durability requirements.
Canadian-made sofas from Stylus are available in classic, contemporary, and transitional silhouettes - from tight-back profiles to deep-seat, casual styles. Our showroom staff across all BC locations are trained to walk you through the full selection and help you match fabric and style to your existing room.
Custom Sectionals - Configured for Your Space
Stylus sectionals are one of the most practical solutions for BC homes where standard sizing rarely fits correctly - especially in open-concept condos, townhouses with irregular living rooms, or larger homes that need a sectional anchoring a great room. A made-to-order sectional lets you specify the configuration (left-facing, right-facing, L-shape, U-shape, with or without chaise) and the fabric independently.
With over 150 fabric options, including performance fabrics rated for high-traffic use and pet-friendly households, you select the upholstery before the piece is cut and sewn - not after. This matters because standard sectionals are built for mass appeal; a Stylus sectional is built for your room. Available to order at all five Muse & Merchant showrooms across British Columbia.
Custom Accent Chairs - Made to Order
Stylus also produces made-to-order accent chairs through Muse & Merchant - a less common offering than custom sofas or sectionals, and one that solves a specific problem: finding an accent chair that matches your existing custom sofa or sectional exactly. Because Stylus uses the same fabric library across all product types, you can order a sofa and accent chair in an identical fabric that ready-made retailers cannot replicate. Order in-store at any of our BC showrooms.
About Stylus - BC's Largest Upholstered Furniture Manufacturer
Stylus was founded in 1959 and has grown to become one of Canada's largest upholstered furniture manufacturers. Their factory is located in Burnaby, BC, employing over 180 skilled craftspeople.
What makes Stylus furniture different from imported production furniture:
- Made in BC - manufactured in Burnaby, not overseas. Shorter lead times than imported custom furniture.
- 150+ fabrics - the largest made-to-order fabric library available through a BC furniture retailer. Includes performance fabrics, natural linens, velvets, and textured weaves.
- 20+ frame styles - from streamlined contemporary to classic rolled-arm profiles.
- Family-owned - Stylus has remained independently owned since 1959, with consistent quality standards across generations.
How the Custom Order Process Works
Ordering custom furniture at Muse & Merchant is a guided in-store experience - not a form-fill or online configuration tool. Here is how it works:
- Visit a showroom - Come to any of our five BC locations. No appointment is needed.
- Choose your frame style - Browse the 20+ Stylus frame profiles. Our team will help you narrow down the silhouette (sofa, sectional, or accent chair) and configuration based on your room dimensions.
- Select your fabric - Review the full library of fabrics in-store. Performance fabrics, natural fibres, and premium upholstery options are all represented. Our staff can pull fabric memos and show you swatches against the frame.
- Confirm details and deposit - Once you've chosen your frame, configuration, and fabric, our team submits the order to Stylus's Burnaby factory.
- Production and delivery - Stylus hand-crafts your piece in Burnaby. When complete, Muse & Merchant arranges delivery within BC. We do not deliver outside British Columbia.
